Rabbi Brian Mayer Reads from Rabbi Brian’s Highly Unorthodox Gospel (Friday, July 11th, 6:30-8:30pm, FREE)
Ora et Labora
is proud to present
Protest Pours, a speaker series
When Dave was 12 years old, he met Rabbi Brian at Tannen’s Magic Camp, where Rabbi was a much beloved counselor. Years later, Dave discovered that Rabbi taught math at De La Salle North Catholic High School, where Dave taught theology before opening Ora et Labora. Rabbi Brian, believe it or not, is not a full-time magic camp counselor, but has devoted his life to helping folks explore religion outside of boxes. He just published his new book, and will be reading from this masterwork. And by the way, Rabbi Brian was the dude who came up with the name “Protest Pours,” so props to him.
100% of all profits from wines sold by the glass at the event will serve to provide Rabbi Brian a modest honorarium, with the rest going to his non-profit prison ministry. Space is limited, so please reserve your tickets in advance!

Rabbi Brian Zachary Mayer (rB) enjoys the challenge of summarizing himself into a few sentences. He lives in Portland Oregon, and–from his MacBook M2 Pro–runs ROTB.org, a worldwide, internet-based congregation of over 3,000 members.
In 2025, rB published Rabbi Brian’s Highly Unorthodox Gospel–a modern testament to compassion, kindness and love. For others. (And self.)
