Roots & Revelry (Saturday, November 21st, 4-8pm), $25 advance & $30 at the door
Please note that advance ticket sales will close three days before the event!
For our big holiday tasting this year, we’re changing things up a bit. We’re so stoked to help introduce two amazing local, and relatively new labels to the Portland community. Nicholas Caluori, and Bree and Chad Stock (Bree is a Master of Wine!) are crafting wines from a broad spectrum of varietals. We’ll be pouring a slate of our favorite European counterparts to provide a fascinating (and hopefully educational!) experience. Come try 19 wines (with a couple of special bonus pours for our club members), and get all your holiday wine shopping done and dusted before the madness begins! As an added bonus, Nicholas will be donning his headphones and spinning some vinyl to make this shindig all the more memorable.
Click here to read more about the winemakers, and here are the stories of Secus (you’ll just have to meet the dude, as his website just hints at his awesomeness), Limited Addition, and Concinnitas Farm.
ABOUT THE WINEMAKERS
Nicholas Caluori, Artist and Wine Custodian of Secus
Art school-denied, certified sommelier by the court (with a WSET level 3 certificate of authenticity, internationally forklift-certified, whole bunch of Wine Spectator points- and list-awarded, Yamhill County Fair ribbon-earning, paintbrush-using grape janitor…
…with a propensity to mix genres of his vinyl collection on two turntables with some good speakers.
SECUS: to the contrary, not so, otherwise. This brand began in the Willamette Valley in 2021 as an expression of art and wine not as they always have been, but as the untold versions of themselves. Each year, Secus releases two wines that take a look at classic winemaking through a different lens. The hope is to deliver connection and thought with each bottle–Secus as an experience.
Bree & Chad Stock, of Limited Addition and Concinnitas Farm
Bree Stock is a Master of Wine, holding one of the highest qualifications in the wine industry and with over twenty years of international experience across the wine business sector. Australian-born, her wine career began in the Canadian on-trade with Sommelier buying roles on both coasts. On return to Australia she developed broad industry experience in management and sales director roles in on-trade, distribution and importing specializing in wines of the Iberian Peninsular, US and Australia. An avid explorer and learner she is a certified WSET educator (2008) and became a Master of Wine in 2016. She continues to lecture across all levels of the WSET certification, and is the WSET nominated educator at Linfield College Evenstad Center for Wine Education. Beyond her educational expertise, Bree is also an international consultant and wine judge for many international and domestic organizations.
Chad Stock holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Enology from California State University Fresno graduating in 2006 with top honors and the University Academic Achievement Award for his graduating class. After completing an apprenticeship in 2006 for Rudd Winery in Oakville, CA, he moved north to Oregon joining the team at Antica Terra in the Eola-Amity Hills, to help redesign and launch the new company. In 2011 he launched his own wine brand “Minimus”. Chad explores viticulture and wine production theory across the state of Oregon and has become the top advisor and consultant in the State for minimal intervention winemaking, vineyard establishment for alternative grape cultivars, and technical education for innovative and rare wine styles. In 2017 Chad launched his newest venture co-founding Constant Crush Advisors, an international comprehensive consultancy company specializing in vineyard and winery development, wine production, product development, packaging, and global product placement.
ABOUT THE EUROPEAN WINES
We’re curating a list of our favorite wines from France and Spain that will serve as counterparts to the bottles from Nicholas and the Stocks. Our intention is not to pit the Pacific Northwest against Europe, but to help you explore the intersection between tradition and innovation.
And if you’re a club member with OEL, we’ll have a couple bonus rarities to share with you.
