Our first introduction to Lisette Hrapmann was through her very first bottle under her own label, entitled “Fizzy Lizzy Swamp Water”. This pét-nat of Chardonnay bore the image of a crocodile in Louisiana swamp, a highly uncharacteristic image for adorning fermented grape juice trapped in glass. A native of New Orleans (lagniappe [“lann-yap”] means “a little extra”), Lizzy trained in Healdsburg after college, and a bit in Burgundy and Chile, before winding up in Oregon where she dove into winemaking at Alexana, Belle Pente, and currently Day Wines. Lizzy’s work at Lagniappe exemplifies what an Oregon winemaker whose age treads the waters between the millennial and Gen Z generations is all about: careful farming, human scale winemaking, and serious experimentation. We’re really hoping she brings her baby.

And then, we met Taylor Rebora through Lizzy. Taylor got into wine in her hometown of Chicago, where she first met grape juice at City Winery. She wound up at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, studying oenology and viticulture, and gained experience in the Central Coast (Tooth & Nail and Deovlet Wines) before bopping down to New Zealand in 2020. Since moving to Oregon, Taylor has worked at Antica Terra, L’Angolo Estate, and A.D. Beckham, where Rebora Wines was born. Taylor’s first (and currently only!) bottle, “Natura Morta” is an homage to her grandmother’s artistry, and is a single-vineyard, partial whole cluster Dolcetto planted on volcanic soils in the Columbia Gorge.
